4 Types Of Website Traffic
- SOCIAL TRAFFIC – Can you guess where this comes from? Yes, it is from Social Media. I believe that most traffic on websites nowadays come from social medias but I could be wrong. There are a lot of sharing happening online and it’s easier to share things with people now. You can share it on your timeline or newsfeed or pin it or retweet it. Basically this means that people who visited your website found it with the help of social media.
- ORGANIC TRAFFIC – If you are interested in SEO, you will need to pay attention to this one since this type of traffic refers to the people who found your website through an online search (hint: using keywords). The more effort you put into making sure organic traffic keeps on coming (tip: using SEO), the more return or profit you will be seeing. A side secret to this would be to make sure that search engines have a complete access to your website and that the content you are posting are high quality. You would want your website to have that sense of authority in the niche that your have chosen.
- REFERRAL TRAFFIC – This type of traffic comes from links that are all over the web that leads back to your website. Think advertisements.
- DIRECT TRAFFIC – Direct traffic is direct. This comes from the people who enter your website’s URL directly on their browser in order to visit. These people already know about you and have most likely memorized your URL. However, this traffic is a little hard to scale so it is not as effective compared to the first three in the long run.
Now let’s jump back on how you will be search for keywords to use. You don’t just use any word that you think is good. There is actually a process to it.
Keywords are important in SEO. Note that they have to be related to your business or niche. The first step would be for you to identify what are the words or topic relevant to you. It’s not that hard but you will need to make a list. What would you like to talk about in your website? Now if you are done, you will now write keywords that you think are important for search engines. For example, you are an online shop that sells leather bags so keywords related to that would revolve around it like “Leather Bags For Less”, “Leather Bags Women”, “Old Leather Bags”, and “How To Fix Leather Bags”. There would be more if you can think more.
Also check out search related to your topic at the bottom of the results page. You should take those in consideration too. Narrow down your words and make sure that you choose hard keywords and long tailed ones too.
Lastly, you may turn to Google’s Adword’s Keyword Planner if you believe that you have already found the right mix. Please note that you may need to sign up for Google AdWords to be able to use this.
And that’s it! Based one the results of your research, you will now incorporate these keywords into your posts or blog so that they will acquire more hits. Remember with more hits comes more profits.
