I remember my parents telling me to eat my fruits and veggies because it’s good for the body, but what exactly are the healthy benefits of fruits and veggies? Today we are going to explore that and see for ourselves if eating that piece of broccoli is really worth it.
Personally I am not fond of eating my fruits and vegetables but I do admit that eating fast food everyday takes a toil on the body. What vitamins and minerals can be found on our favorite fruits and vegetables? Children today (and even adults) are not consuming the appropriate amount of healthy food that they should be. How can they when there are a lot of tempting food all around like carbonated drinks, sugary sweets, and crispy chips? Doctors always advice us to eat out fruits and vegetables because they are good for our health. That is true, of course.
Generally, fruits and vegetables will be able to provide your body high intakes of fiber, vitamins and minerals, iron, phytoestrogens, and even anti-oxidants to help prevent cancer.
The first benefit is that the different colors of the fruits and vegetables are able to provide more appeal to your food thus hopefully increasing your appetite. Also by choosing a wide variety of different colors, you will be able to gain a lot different benefits. Segregating them by color, the orange vegetables usually contain more beta-carotene which is good for the the skin, immune system, and eye health. Meanwhile, the red pigment that you can find in tomatoes is rich in lycopene which is good for prostate health, skin, and some say that it’s great for preventing cancer.
The second benefit of eating them would be that they are low in calories. Fruits and vegetables are good for those who are watching their weight. And as I said above, they are also rich in fiber which is good for your digestive system.
The third benefit is that you can do a lot of things to make them more fun to eat. For example, there are some who dip their bananas in chocolate. Sure, chocolate is not really healthy but it’s really fun to eat. It’s a great dessert idea for kids. Chocolate also gives them more energy for their daily activities. You can also cut them up into different shapes, and some vegetables and fruits that are crispy to eat.
Now let’s discuss it one by one:
I’ve often heard of people making juice out of beets. I never had the chance to try it myself but it has been said to prevent cancer, specifically colon cancer. Aside from that, it also contains iron, vitamin B-folate, and fiber. The leaves of the beet are great but the beetroots cannot be considered as useless. Beets aid in lowering a person’s blood pressure, help fight against premature aging, improve digestion (because of the fiber), reduce inflammation, and give you energy.
Next up is spinach. We’ve often seen Popeye eat a canful of Spinach and then he gains strength to beat Brutus. Where and what can you find in Spinach? You’ll find Spinach in grocery stores so it’s convenient. Get ready for a boost of iron, potassium, and vitamins A, B, C, and K. You will also find that it contains vitamins to boost your immune system and flavonoids which help in preventing cancer.
Citrus Fruits are full of vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. If you are looking for an antioxidant, you’d better reach for a pink grapefruit. Experts say that you should eat the whole fruit since it’s better than juicing them up.
Avocados are rich in heart healthy monounsaturated fats that will help in raising the good fats in your body and also lower the bad ones. HDL is healthier than LDL. HDL are the good fats. You will also find high levels of vitamin E in avocados which is great for the skin.
Next up are grapes! We know that grapes were used to make wine but did you also know that grapes help in preventing blood clots, lower LDL, and prevent damage to the heart muscles. It will also help maintain your blood pressure on healthy levels. You will also find what they call resveratrol that can help prevent the development of certain types of cancer. You can find that in red grapes!
Watermelon are great summer snacks. Personally, I enjoy eating watermelon and it has such a fun color too. It’s great to hydrate yourself. It also has lycopene, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and magnesium.
What’s your favorite fruit? What’s your favorite vegetables?

1.) MAKE SURE TO WASH THE BEETROOT. Also it’s stem and leaves. You can gently rub them under cold running water.
2.) REMOVE THE BEET TOP.
3.) CUT THE BEET INTO SMALLER PIECES THAT WILL BE ABLE TO FIT INTO YOUR JUICER. You can also make a juice out of the leaves.
4.) Serve the juice immediately so it’s still fresh.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have kidney problems, it is best to avoid consuming too much beets. Also don’t panic if after you drink beetroot juice, you may find that your urine is a little pinkish or reddish. That’s normal. Don’t drink too much beet juice at once since it may cause a stomache.
